Croatian Meeting Professionals Association (CMPA) held its 10th Croatian Meeting Industry Forum in Zagreb, on 7 December 2021 – an annual event for meeting professionals, authorities reps and media. After last year’s virtual event, this was a hybrid one with 60 live participants and 40 ones online.

In the first part, the participants were informed of the current situation in the Croatian meeting industry, while the second part was reserved for the main topic – sustainable events. The theme was first tackled by a plenary lesson given by Prof. Oliver Kesar from Zagreb University, followed by Annika Romer from Copenhagen Legacy Lab – and then by a panel discussion. It included three major Croatian successful sustainable projects: Aquatika, a freshwater aquarium from Karlovac, Terme Sveti Martin na Muri and its whole regional community and Becarac Museum with its local society group.

The success of this event shows the vitality of MICE community, although terribly hit by the pandemics, and its strength and desire to strive for better times around the corner.

Roundtable about Croatian Tourism Workforce

What is the actual image of specialized education for the needs of the tourism industry? Which is the role of setting up regional competence centers in tourism? Are the educational programs in line with the needs of employers? How to enhance the image and status of hospitality high schools in our society? Do we have a clear vision about the quantity and types of workforces in tourism in, for example, 2028? Are we employing unqualified workers in tourism because we lack the qualified ones?

The answers to those and other related questions 10 panelists tried to answer, attending the roundtable “Education, employment and workforce market in Croatian tourism” organized by High School of Zabok and Faculty of Economics and Business from University of Zagreb. One of the panelists – representing Croatian Meetings Professionals Association – was Aleksandra Uhernik Đurđek, CMPA’s Education Program Director. Among other programs, CMPA has been conducting a certificate program Certified Croatian Meetings & Events Professional, completed by most Croatian colleagues in MICE industry.

MEETEX 2022 with new niches!

For 2022 MEETEX Team has prepared yet another surprise – introduction of MICE complementary niches to our Tradeshow! As from 2022 MEETEX will expand its portfolio of suppliers/exhibitors with a few extremely popular and demanded industry segments – luxury boutique hotels and destination weddings, niches that gain more and more popularity in Croatia and offer the experience the clients will never forget. We will of course adapt the buyers’ profiles to match the new MEETEX niches.

CMPA at MIM in Bluesun hotels

This past weekend CMPA held its regular MIM – Meeting Industry Meeting – in Brela and Bol on Brač island. We had a fabulous welcome by Bluesun team and a wonderful time discovering all the hidden gems of Brela and Brač MICE venues. Our visit also included the Nature Park Biokovo and its already famed Skywalk panoramic platform with a spectacular view over the riviera, as well as the visit to the old and renowned winery Stina at Bol for a delightful wine tasting. Nothing but thank you Bluesun team for all your efforts, we felt like home. And best of luck with your planned renovation of multiple hotels, which will enrichen the Dalmatian MICE offer even more!
